A brief history of the development of Bentley Nevada 3500

  • 2021-07-19
The Bently Nevada 3500 series frame-type mechanical protection system (abbreviated as: Bentley 3500) represents and embodies the professional knowledge and best practices of Bently Nevada in the field of mechanical protection and equipment condition monitoring for more than 50 years. The Bentley 3500 was first released in 1995 and quickly became the industry’s leading mechanical protection system for critical units based on a standard framework. The Bentley 3500 system is known for its outstanding reliability and high on-site configurability. Flexibility, application flexibility and scalability. Since the release of Bentley 3500 for more than 20 years, the global sales volume has exceeded 100,000 units, which means that we are the most critical units of more than 100,000 units of large process enterprises in petrochemical, electric power, metallurgy, etc., such as steam turbines, Generators, compressors, super-large motors, pumps and fans, etc., provide real-time protection and status monitoring.

Since the release of the Bentley 3500, Bentley Nevada has been continuously upgrading and improving the Bentley 3500 to ensure that the system has more complete functions, more stable performance and full compliance with relevant regulations. At present, the internal cards of Bentley 3500 have developed four generations of products, from the first generation (1995-2001) system can only be used for monitoring and protection; to the second generation (2002-2010) cards (M2 series) built-in high-speed The data collection function can be directly connected to System1; and then to the third generation (2011-2016) card upgrade to use high integrated circuit chips, the system capabilities are greatly enhanced.

Since the beginning of the new century, Europe has announced a new RoHS standard for restricting hazardous substances in electronic products, and announced a timetable for mandatory implementation. Major industrial countries in the world have also expressed their support. Bently Nevada took advantage of this opportunity to conduct a thorough RoHS compliance redesign of all Bently 3500 cards since 2015, and at the same time enhanced the network security and impact resistance of the system, and expanded the 3500/22TDI card. The memory capacity of the software makes the Bentley 3500 more powerful in capturing event data. Finally, in the second half of 2017, the upgrade of the fourth-generation Bentley 3500 was completed.
