Five Key Factors Affecting The Accuracy Of The Load Cell
In terms of a load cell, what is the definition of accuracy? What conditions or factors are most important for the accuracy of the load cell? Each load cell is different and is designed with different specifications in mind. It is important for engineers to understand the different factors that affect the accuracy of a load cell and how to ensure that the load cell is best suited to their needs. Here are five factors to consider. The temperature in the air can affect the ability of the load cell to provide accurate measurements because of their sensitivity. Each load cell has a temperature point at which accuracy is affected, but many load cells are designed to deal with extreme temperatures. When selecting a load cell, the engineer needs to tell the load cell manufacturer at what temperature they expect the load to operate. Humidity does not affect the load cell as directly as temperature, but over time it can affect the accuracy of its data. Weighing sensors operating in high humidity environments must be properly designed for this task. Creep is the change in accuracy caused by applying pressure to the load cell at a constant load, while all other environmental conditions and variables remain constant. Creep is caused by the slow deformation of a material under constant load. Sideload and eccentric load is not suitable for the measurement of the load cell, which will reduce the service life of the sensor and make the measurement results distorted. The load cell usually measures the force in only one direction. The installation will affect the interaction between the load cell and the part under test. If the installation is off-center, the readings will be inaccurate. Be sure to follow the installation instructions for the load cell.
