Description

The main computer is connected to the VME bus (backplane) and the local bus of the memory expansionboard. The main computer looks after the higher-leveladministrative work in the control system. Under normaloperating conditions, all diagnostic monitoring iscontrolled by the main computer. At startup, regardlessof whether a cold or warm start is performed, the robotcomputer releases the main computer when the robotcomputer's diagnostics allows it, then the main computertakes over control of the system. The read and writememories of the main computer are battery-backed.If the red LEDs on the main computer light up (or do notgo off at the initialization), either a critical system failurehas occurred, or the main computer board or expansionmemory is faulty.It is not possible to carry out diagnostics on the boardin the operation environment and, therefore, if the maincomputer is faulty, it must be replaced.If the Main Computer board is to be replaced, the newboard must go in the correct slot (see Figure 2-4).The system software will have to be loaded. Then thesystem parameters will have to be loaded. And then theresolver counts need to be updated. Refer to Chapter3 - Loading System Software for procedures.
