Terminology
The following is a list of terms associated with Compact Control Builder. Youshould be familiar with these terms before reading this manual. The list containsterms and abbreviations that are unique to ABB or have a usage or definition that isdifferent from standard industry usage.
Structured Data Types
An important part of creating re-usable solutions is to use structured data types.These serve as communicators (tunnels) through the application, and can in manycases be used instead of writing code directly in function blocks and controlmodules. If we implement object-specific code in every place, instead of usingvariables of structured data types, we would soon narrow down the dynamics andflexibility of the system.
Structured data types can be seen as a thick cable, with each component as a cordinside the cable. The strength of structured data types shows when they are used inconnections between types. You can connect control module types (through severallayers), without declaring any variables on each module level. One componentinside a valve can be directly accessed from a parameter on the outside. If you, lateron, need a new component, it will pass through all control module types and controlmodules with no additional interconnection.
