The NPM module supports the warm failover feature which isthe ability to switch from the primary process control unitinterface to the redundant backup process control unit without losing any information or functionality. An NKMP01 orNKMP11 cable is required for redundant module operations.For optimum warm failover performance, the NIS module firmware revision should be E.0 or later. In redundant NPM moduleapplications, the dipswitches on the primary and backup NPMmodule must be set identically except for the module addresssetting, which must be unique. Configure the NPM module asfollows.The communication system provides a means to monitor thestatus of the power system of each node. This status information can be displayed on the operator console. Electronicswithin the power entry panel monitor the power system status.A single status output is made available to the communicationsystem. To use this feature, wire the status output to the terminal block on the termination device (NTCL01 or NICL01)labeled PSS1 or PSS2. Two sets of terminals are available oneach termination device for interconnecting the power systemstatus output.This power system status signal is fed through the terminationdevice cable to the P3 connector on the NIS module. The powersystem status input is a TTL-compatible signal. A high voltagelevel on power system status indicates good status. A low voltage level indicates bad status. When no connection is made toeither of the power system status inputs, a pull-up resistor onthe NIS module causes a high level signal on the power systemstatus input, thereby reporting good status.
