Description
The Allen-Bradley 1715-IB16D is a 16-channel digital input module which is part of the Allen-Bradley 1715 redundant I/O systems. It can be configured in the RSLogix software for simplex or duplex operation by selecting 1 of the 2 available termination assemblies and the required number of modules. Features of the 1715-IB16D include independent galvanically-isolated input channels, an integrated diagnostic testing and watchdog facility, and the option for the online removal and replacement of components (in the duplex mode the signals are not interrupted). When the 1715-IB16D is used with the 1715-TASIB16D simplex termination assembly, it is non-isolated.
The backplane power requirement for the 1715-IB16D is 260 milliamps at 18 to 32 Volts DC. The maximum slew rates are 3600 Volts/s. The maximum translation rate is 1/(application scan time + 10 milliseconds) Hertz. The isolation voltage is 50 Volts (continuous). The module is type-tested at 500 Volts for 60 seconds. The power dissipation for the system is a maximum of 4 Watts and for the field loops, it is 0.2 Watts maximum per loop. The approximate weight of the 1715-IB16D is 360 grams. The dimensions of the 1715-IB16D are 166 x 42 x 118 millimeters. Solid or stranded copper wire (22 to 16 AWG) rated at 85 degrees Celsius or greater is recommended for use with the 1715-IB16D. The operating temperature and relative humidity ranges for the 1715-IB16D are -25 to 70 degrees Celsius and 10 to 95%, respectively. The surrounding air should have a maximum temperature of 70 degrees Celsius. The storage temperature range runs from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. The operating shock ratings are 25 grams for DIN rail mounting and 30 grams for panel mounting.
