Description
The Allen-Bradley 1756-PLS ControlLogix Programmable Limit Switch is a module that can monitor machine position through the resolver, activate the actuator at various limits, and switch the Low Limit and High Limit setpoint positions. The 1756-PLS module energizes and de-energizes outputs for industrial applications. This module has 16 output currents at 10 - 31.2V DC with a maximum of 1A per output (4 groups of 4 outputs with separate power and common). The 1756-PLS also has 16 single-ended inputs 10-31.2V DC (4 groups of 4 inputs with separate commons). This module is installed in a ControlLogix chassis. It also uses a Removable Terminal Block (RTB) to connect all the field-side cables. Removing the PLS module from the chassis when the power is applied causes the message commands to commit configuration, input data, and output errors. Deletion may also cause the module to lose its previous configuration. When inserting or removing a module while the backplane power is on, an electric arc can occur.
The Allen-Bradley 1756-PLS has an operating temperature of 0 - 60°C (32° - 140°F) at nominal DC I/O voltage. The operating humidity is 0-95% noncondensing and the thermal dissipation is 6.35 BTU/hr at the nominal DC voltage and 9.56 BTU/hr at the maximum DC voltage. The maximum off-state voltage of the 1756-PLS module is 5V DC. The maximum off-stage current is 1.5 Ma and the maximum on-stage current is 3-10 mA.
