Introduction

The producer/consumer model multicasts messages. This means thatmultiple nodes can consume the same data at the same time from a singledevice. Where you place I/O modules in the control system determines howthe modules exchange dataFor a ControlLogix controller to control 1756 I/O, it must be either in thesame chassis as the controller or on a ControlNet network that is local tothat controller. Scheduled communication cannot be bridged between two1756-CNB modules over a ControlLogix backplane. For example:The ControlLogix controller in Chassis A can control the 1756 I/O modulesin Chassis A and in Chassis B, but not in Chassis C. The ControlLogixcontroller in Chassis A can only send messages to the devices in Chassis C.
