Introduction

Every I/O module in the ControlLogix system must be owned by aControlLogix controller. The owner controller stores configuration data forevery I/O module that it owns and can be local or remote in regard to theI/O module’s position. The owner controller sends the I/O configurationdata to define the I/O module’s behavior and to start the I/O module’soperation within the control system. Each ControlLogix I/O module mustcontinuously maintain communication with its owner controller tooperate normally.Typically, each I/O module has only one owner. Because listen-onlycontrollers lose their connections to modules when communications withthe owner controller stop, you can define more than one owner for an inputmodule. If multiple controllers own the same input module, each controllermust maintain identical configuration for that input module. An outputmodule is limited to one owner.
