These are available withreasonable pressure drop, and will provide maximumprotection for the most vulnerable part of the system.A set of access valves should be provided on the filteror filter-drier, to facilitate checking the pressure drop.An additional benefit of a suction line filter or filterdrier is the added protection given the system if aburnout should occur. The filter will effectively preventcontamination resulting from the failure from travelingback through the suction line into the other parts ofthe system. An additional benefit of a suction linefilter-drier is to capture any acid generated during theburnout before it causes any additional damage. Thiswill minimize the contamination remaining in the systemwhen the inoperative compressor is removed.
