Test Mode
The Test mode provides a way to check the operation and calibration of the transmitter. Details ofusing this function are covered in System Maintenance Instruction, MI 021-391.To use Test mode, you must have an IMTSIM flowtube simulator to connect to the transmitter inplace of the flowtube. Test mode provides three choices:
-OFF returns the transmitter to normal operation
- Test Mode A (See test description below)
-Test Mode B (See test description below)
In both test modes, the display initially shows the word “Testing” for about a minute while itperforms internal checks. It then displays a mV/Amp value that should equal the dial setting onthe IMTSIM. When this value stops flashing, it has stabilized and is ready to read.The differences between Modes A and B relate to the 4 to 20 mA and pulse rate outputs. Mode Bsets the outputs to 100% for the maximum IMTSIM setting, which is 8 mA. This makes it easyto compute the correct output percentages for the other dial settings. Since Mode A does not alterthe ranging of the transmitter, the dial settings must be calculated using the flowtube factor andURV settings. When the transmitter exits from Test mode and returns to normal operation, theconfiguration that existed before testing is restored.
