Description

Steam produced is mainly used as motive power and process steam. 65% of thetotal generation of steam is used as motive power, to run turbines which drivecompressors and pumps. The remaining 35% is used as process steam forReboilers, heating coil, steam tracing of lines and stripping in columns.Sometimes it is used for purging of furnaces, columns, lines etc., for gas freeingand as fire fighting media.

Boiler House plant is one of the utility plant in the BPCL Mumbai refinery, whichis supplying Steam, Instrument air, Process air Fuel oil and drinking water to theentire refinery. The steam is produced in three independent High Efficiencyboilers and distributed to the plants through the steam distribution header. Thereare 8 numbers of instruments air compressors for instrument air and process airproduction. Fuel oil is stored in two numbers of tanks and distributed to the plantthrough fuel oil pumps. Drinking water taken from BMC is stored in a sump andpumped to storage tanks. From the storage tank the water is pumped to variousplants of the refinery.
