Itenables modification of the application software, system software and SafetyManager hardware configuration, while maintaining the system's critical controlfunction for the operational plant. This means that the system can be upgradedwithout the need of a plant shutdown. During on-line modification, the changesare carried out in one Control Processor at a time.
