This manual provides information necessary to properly plan the installation of a High-PerformanceProcess Manager (HPM) subsystem at a TPS system site. The subsystem encompasses the HighPerformance Process Manager and the Network Interface Module (NIM), which is resident on theUniversal Control Network (UCN), a network associated with the TPS system Local ControlNetwork (LCN). 

The amount of information that this publication provides depends on yourpersonal experience and the process that the High-Performance Process Manager will control andmonitor.

The experienced planner, a person involved in the installation of TPS system’s Basic or LCNequipment, will find that some information is familiar. However, regardless of your pastexperience, you must read Section 4 in this manual to enhance your knowledge of the processcontrol connections available, and also reference the TPS System Site Planning, Universal ControlNetwork Planning, and Universal Control Network Installation manuals to prepare yourself for theconnection of the High-Performance Process Manager to the Universal Control Network.In some cases, control room expansion will be part of installing the High-Performance ProcessManager. If this is the case, use the LCN Planning and LCN Installation manuals to plan forexpansion of the network.
