AutoZeroLock (Empty Pipe) Detection


The AutoZeroLock (Empty Pipe) Detector function can be configured to trigger when anincrease in electrode impedance is detected, such as can occur when a pipe is empty. It can furtherbe configured to force all outputs to the zero flow condition, generate an alarm condition, or bothif triggered.The intent of AutoZeroLock (Empty Pipe) Detection is to prevent false flow readings that canoccur with empty pipe conditions. Without this feature, the input to the transmitter couldbecome an open circuit and the output could drift. With this feature, the empty pipe detectioncircuit prevents output drift by monitoring the conductivity between electrodes and forcing theoutput to zero if the conductivity falls below a predetermined level. The feature does not reveal apartially full condition if the electrodes remain covered with fluid and does not indicate howempty a pipe is if the electrodes are exposed. Also, fouling of the electrodes could cause a falseempty pipe condition and coating of the electrodes with a viscous fluid could cause a significantlag before an empty pipe condition is recognized
