Introduction

The DeviceNet network uses the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) to providethe control, configuration, and data collection capabilities for industrial devices.The DeviceNet network uses the proven Controller Area Network (CAN)technology, which lowers installation costs and decreases installation time andcostly downtime.A DeviceNet network provides access to the intelligence present in your devicesby letting you connect devices directly to plant-floor controllers without havingto hard wire each device into an I/O module.Like DF1 full-duplex protocol, DF1 radio modem lets any node to connect toany other node at any time (if the radio modem network supports full-duplexdata port buffering and radio transmission collision avoidance). Like DF1half-duplex protocol, a node ignores any packets received that have a destinationaddress other than its own, with the exception of broadcast packets andpass-through packets.Unlike either DF1 full-duplex or DF1 half-duplex protocols, DF1 radio modemprotocol does not include ACKs, NAKs, ENQs, or poll packets. Data integrity isassured by the CRC checksum.Using the DF1 Radio Modem DriverThe DF1 radio modem driver can be configured as the system mode driver byusing RSLogix 5000 programming software, version 17 or later.
