Description

The Tricon provides continuous protection for safety-critical units in refineries, petrochemical/chemical plantsand other industrial processes. Forexample, in reactor and compressorunits, plant trip signals—for pressure,product feed rates, expander pressureequalization and temperature—aremonitored and shutdown actions takenif an upset condition occurs. Traditionalshutdown systems implemented withmechanical or electronic relays provideshutdown protection but can also causedangerous nuisance trips.The Tricon increases system integrity,providing automatic detection and verification of field sensor integrity, integrated shutdown and controlfunctionality, and direct connection tothe supervisory data highway forcontinuous monitoring of safety-critical functions.
