Non-redundant IO configurations 

Non-redundant IO configurations can be used in systems with a non-redundantController as well as in systems with redundant Controller.Fully non-redundant systems are typically used for safety applications whereredundancy is part of the process.

In a Safety Manager setup with a redundant Controller, and (partly) nonredundant IO, both Control Processors alternately assume responsibility for thenon-redundant IO interfaces. This ensures both Control Processors can alwaysaccess the IO interfaces correctly.

Safety Manager configurations with a redundant Controller and non-redundantIO interfaces are typically used for safety critical applications with increaseddemands for system availability, for example because of redundancy in plantequipment.

The combination of redundant and non-redundant IO interfaces is extremelypowerful. Process safeguarding functions requiring optimal availability arecontrolled through the redundant IO interfaces, and less demanding safetyfunctions through the non-redundant IO interfaces.

In the Safety Manager Guides an approved basic Fire and Gas Safety applicationis included. This application provides a Fire and Gas Safety Solution that caneasily be integrated into Honeywell’s Experion™ PKS,10105/2/1Honeywell’s TotalPlantSolution (TPS) system or into Honeywell’s PlantScape system. The basicapplication can be developed and adjusted easily to design a project specific Fireand Gas Safety Solution. 

The integrated layer of the F&G solution within Experion, TPS or PlantScapecontains the integrated alarm listing and safety historian functionality thatrecords all detected alarms, all actions initiated by the F&G Safety system andall actions executed by this system or connected integrated sub-systems. 10105/2/1Thislayer also shows the actual situation of the F&G application by using overallplant displays and various detailed area displays that contain locations andactual status of all connected F&G field detectors.
